This is the youngest schools to be created in the university.
Crop and Animal Agriculture have been very important for survival of man since times immemorial. Therefore, it is not surprising it is the world’s largest economic sector. It is so fundamental that rulers worldwide know agriculture forms the basis of political and social stability. Equally important is the Environment for man’s survival and this is where the crop and animal production is practiced.
The Kenya Vision 2030 and Pwani University Strategic Vision have placed a lot of importance to Agriculture and Environment. This culminated with the creation of the School of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences last year. The School that is proud to house these two disciplines that have greatest impact on humanity comprises of three departments. They are departments of Animal, Crop and Environmental Sciences. All three are naturally dovetailed in answer to man’s pursuit for survival; and at Pwani University they bring synergism, in the study of how living and nonliving things interact.

The ultimate goal of the SGS is to contribute towards the university college mission: “to generate, disseminate and apply knowledge while sustaining excellence in teaching, learning and research”.
Thus the SGS will ensure graduate training at Pwani University equips students with adequate knowledge and skills to meet their expectations and the challenges of a dynamic and competitive world.
